How to Clean Porcelain Patio Tiles

When it comes to outdoor patios, porcelain patio tiles are a popular choice. They are durable, easy to install and maintain and come in a variety of sizes and colours. But no matter how hard you try to keep them clean, these tiles eventually get dirty especially if you live in a rainy climate. If your patio is starting to look like it needs some attention, don’t worry We’ve got you covered with this step-by-step guide for cleaning porcelain patio tiles.

Step One: Gather Your Supplies

Before getting started, make sure you have everything you need. This includes a bucket of warm water (about 3 gallons), a scrub brush, some dish soap or mild detergent, and a soft cloth. You may also want to have some rubber gloves on hand if you don’t want your hands to get too dirty during the cleaning process.

Step Two: Pre-Wash

Using the bucket filled with warm water mixed with dish soap or mild detergent, gently scrub the surface of the tile using the scrub brush or a soft cloth. This will help loosen any dirt or debris that is stuck in the surface of the tile before you move on to more heavy-duty cleaning methods.

Step Three: Dealing With Mildew

If there is any visible mildew on your porcelain patio tiles, mix equal parts bleach and water in a separate bucket and use it to soak a cloth before wiping down affected areas of your tile surface. Make sure that the outdoor tile cleaner area treated with a bleach solution is thoroughly rinsed off afterwards so as not to discolour your tiles further.

Step Four: Rinse Thoroughly

After you’ve finished scrubbing your patio tiles, be sure to rinse them thoroughly with clean water until all of the soap residues are removed from the tile surface. This will help prevent streaking or residue buildup which could attract more dirt over time. You can also add some bleach to your rinse water if you’d like for added disinfecting power just make sure you rinse it off thoroughly afterwards.
